Promotional Coasters with Blue Butterflies Theme

In a previous blog article, I shared with you that I had made some desktop items, such as a 6″x8″ large desktop coaster with floating blue butterflies made with crepe paper immersed in clear resin with sky blue backing paint.

In that blog article, I explained my production process with a silicone mold in detail. If you did not read that post, here is what this mat looks like.

Despite having created many colorful coasters with more than 15 distinct designs, I selected this particular design to be used for promotional items to represent our brand “Dobro & Vita”. This is because I liked the sense of calm and kind energy that this theme and design transmit to me.

I found out that this design offers a balance of movement and calming meditation, joy and respect for grievances. This choice was a matter of personal taste and my current state of mind. I won’t necessarily recommend it for everyone.

Therefore, I made some promotional coasters for our creative studio “Dobro & Vita” with this theme. In addition to the top epoxy resin layer, these coasters have a middle vinyl layer and also a cork backing in contact with the table. Here you can see a few examples of many I made. I am juxtaposing the design elements to create variations and also to test what composition would work best.

For the production process, I planned to make more than 20 pieces for the first group. I decided to make the production process more streamlined and economical to minimize wasted resin. Therefore, I poured resin on a larger surface, positioned the cutouts of the clear label inside the resin in rows and columns with equal spacing, and carefully placed each butterfly cutout without blocking the contact information.

Since the resin layer in these pieces is thinner, after the resin was set and before it fully hardened, I cut the larger mat produced into 4″x4″ square pieces side by side. I intend to use these coasters as a combination of a sample of my resin crafts and a business card in a functional format. I have not yet given them out to people. This will happen soon.

What I particularly liked about this experiment was that the clear label is placed inside the resin. Therefore, the surface remains unaffected by the promotional printed label. Also, despite being produced as a batch and not in our usual silicone molds for coasters, they can communicate many advantages of layered resin mats produced in our studio with artistic designs.

These qualities that are instantly communicated with these sample coasters include surface smoothness, strength of materials, softness to the touch, resin clarity, uniform thickness, great adherence of layers, robustness, flexibility, 3D depth of design, and storytelling quality. Most importantly, despite the simple design, these little brand ambassadors communicate our brand vision for “Dobro & Vita” very powerfully. To frame it in a nutshell, they provide little mindful moments in the form of functional everyday objects.

I am sure they will go through the improvement process in our studio after receiving constructive feedback from people who would receive them.

Thanks for reading this post. I will update it later with more images as I make more promotional coasters. Please visit again soon.

Cheers!
